Our Story

Our story starts like a classic love story: boy meets girl, boy and girl fall in love, get married, have kids… and then comes the part that really matters: what kind of dog do we get?

The boy grew up with small dogs. The girl grew up with large dogs. So when it came time to bring a dog into our family, there was really only one logical answer: the girl was right.

That’s how Cooper came into our lives.

And once Cooper arrived, he opened all of our eyes to the magic of big dogs. The size, the sweetness, the loyalty, the way they somehow manage to be both enormous and incredibly gentle at the exact same time. He became our kids’ best friend, our family’s teddy bear, our shadow, our couch hog, and one of the best decisions we ever made.

We started calling Cooper “The Gentle Giant” because that’s exactly what he is: big, lovable, calm, and full of heart.

Somewhere along the way, we realized we wanted to celebrate that love in a way that felt true to us. Not loud, gimmicky, or overdone. We wanted things we’d actually wear, pieces we’d proudly have in our home, and designs that felt as timeless, warm, and beautiful as the dogs that inspired them.

So we created The Gentle Giant.

A brand inspired by the big dogs who take up a lot of space physically, emotionally, and often across the entire bed. Minimalistic, clean, and thoughtfully designed for people who know that giant dogs aren’t just pets. They’re family. They’re comfort. They’re joy. They’re the big-hearted companions that make a house feel more like home.

And it all started because a boy grew up with small dogs, a girl had better taste, and Cooper made the rest history.
